Power station

The power station of the aerojeep "Pegas" is in photo 3 and 4.

The air-cushion craft is equipped with a reciprocating engine ROTAX 921ULS (photo 3, position 1) – petrol, 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, with a horizontal opposite arrangement of the cylinders, air cooling of the cylinders and with liquid cooling of the cylinder heads, electronic doubled system of ignition, carburetion, mechanical diaphragm fuel pump, in-built water pump, electric starter.

The lub-oil system is with a dry crankcase. Oil flows into the tank (photo 3, position 7). The hose from the tank to the oil radiator (photo 4 position 6) has a slope for the oil radiator drain while the engine is off, so that it could flow slowly into the oil pump when the engine is started up.

The cooling system of the engine is of a combined type: the cylinders are cooled with air, the cylinder heads – with liquid. The liquid cooling system is of a closed type, with forced circulation of the liquid from the centrifugal pump. Antifreeze Febi 01089 and its analogues are used as cooling liquid. The radiator (photo 4 position 7) is located on the back wall  of the cabin. Expansion (photo 3 position 5) and overflow tanks (photo 3 position 6) are located on the right wall of the radiator air pipe.

Ignition system is no contact-thyristor with condenser discharging, sourced by the magnetic generator of alternating current.

The accumulator battery (photo 5) is located in the aft of the left board.

The electric starter (photo 4 position 2) is installed in the front part of the engine on the generator body. The exhaust system has a sound isolator (photo 3 position 8) that helps to decrease the sound level. The engine is located under the hood where there are holes for air supply to cool the engine. It is fixed to the undermotor frame (photo 3 position 2)from the side of the lower part of the crankcase with the help of 4 Allen screws M10. Moment of force from the engine via the U-joint and friction clutch moves to the ventilator, forming propulsive force and pressure under the hull bottom (air cushion). The friction clutch is switched on automatically on reaching 1400 rpm of the engine.
